About the Role

The company is looking for a Backend Engineer who is motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about building reliable systems. The engineer will join a collaborative development team, working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, while focusing primarily on backend solutions.

The right candidate will have strong experience with JVM languages (Java, Scala, Kotlin), apply software engineering principles to solve real business problems, and take ownership of small projects while contributing to larger, more complex initiatives. They will also be encouraged to identify inefficiencies in existing systems and propose improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test backend applications and services, ensuring they meet design and performance requirements.
  
• Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and co-create technical solutions.
  
• Apply computer science fundamentals, design patterns, and data structures to write clean, maintainable, and modular code.
  
• Contribute to database design and effectively address data storage and integration needs (SQL/NoSQL).
  
• Build scalable APIs and integrations across distributed services.
  
• Monitor and test personal code using appropriate tools and ensure quality is maintained.
  
• Report progress and status clearly, supporting project implementation.
  
• Participate in discussions to standardize processes and identify areas where flexibility is needed.
  
• Work closely with stakeholders to integrate technical solutions with business objectives.
  

 

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 2+ years.
  
• Between 3 and 7 years of professional experience in software development, ideally within agile teams of 5+ engineers.
  
• Proven track record building and maintaining products in production cloud environments (public or hybrid).
  
• Strong proficiency in at least one JVM language; working knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus.
  
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, scalable APIs, and service integrations.
  
• Hands-on experience with testing, monitoring, and debugging applications.
  
• Understanding of how projects align with team objectives and broader business needs.
  
• Ability to work effectively with moderately complex systems.
